Helping Hurricane Victims

Time and time again, Movin’ on Movers and owners Danny and Hilda Wilson, take action to do what it takes to help a family, save an animal, or enable a non-profit group to make help possible. Danny and Hilda Wilson’s commitment to supporting our local NC community while simultaneously providing his employees with meaningful opportunities to engage in helping others, puts Movin’ On Movers in a position to be applauded as well as emulated by other businesses looking to do well by doing good.

Christmas 2018 came a little early to the people of Eastern North Carolina. On December 7th, Danny Wilson, Owner of Movin On’ Movers, delivered three truckloads of donated furniture, to The North Carolina Baptists On Mission donation center located in Red Springs, N.C. The donation included 100 new beds that Danny  purchased to help flood victims in need of a beds.

Hurricane Florence hit in September 2018 and destroyed so many homes in the eastern part of our state.  During the months that followed, Movin’ On Movers collected donated furniture and household goods from customers, employees and vendors.  After Danny visited the area and talked with several community leaders, he learned that people’s #1 need were beds.   After a visit to Mattress Firm in Cary, who also did their part in helping, Movin’ On Movers loaded 100 mattresses and bed frames, and headed East to help in the relief effort.

As our employees were unloading trucks, the expression and tears of gratitude were apparent from the dedicated volunteers working at Baptists On Mission receiving center. To quote Windell Hunt, Assistant Coordinator: “It will be a great Christmas to people who no longer have to sleep on the floor or on air mattresses.” A huge Thank You to Danny and Movin’ On Movers for their kindness and generosity.”

We Love Our Furry Friends

The SPCA of Wake County provides direct, life-saving assistance to over 11,000 local animals every year. The animal rescue is often urgent, and the plan of action needed to save a life can vary dramatically from one situation to the next. An unshakeable commitment to do what it takes to save a life keeps the organizational momentum going and priorities front and center.

Because of the nature of our urgent rescue work we have had the privilege of witnessing and benefitting from the community commitment of Movin’ on Mover’s volunteer and charitable work.

This business takes action to help others in times of need.   For example:
From time to time a pet food distributor (located 2 hours north) offers to donate several tons of high quality dry and canned pet food on the condition the SPCA is able to pick it all up by noon the following day. This impossible request is made possible with the “hell, yeah” partnership of Movin’ On Movers. The company not only donates the transportation, and the fuel, but their staff’s time as well to load and unload tons of food. Items that can’t be stored at the SPCA shelter are distributed to other pet rescue groups, pet foster care providers and shared with the pets of low-income, homebound senior citizens helped through the SPCA’s AniMeals food program.

Movin’ On Movers donates their business services, the owners and employees donate their time, and the company donates more than $25,000 a year in corporate dollars as well as personal funds to support the mission of the SPCA of Wake County.

Movin’ On Movers has provided lead corporate sponsorship support in the SPCA’s largest fundraising events: the annual K9-3K Dog Walk held every spring and the annual black-tie gala event, the Fur Ball, held every fall. In addition, a late winter yard sale, held at the company’s large indoor warehouse raises around $10,000. Movin’ On Movers lends their moving trucks to the SPCA when large items need to be moved, including during the SPCA fundraising events. The moving company also provides secure storage for the $70,000 worth of items donated throughout the year for the SPCA’s benefit silent auction. Finally, the company provides temperature-controlled storage for the organization’s archives as well as storage for event materials used yearly at fundraising events.

Helping Those In Need

Danny Wilson, Owner of Movin’ On Movers, continues his commitment to “giving to the less fortunate.” With the holidays fast approaching, Danny visited the fine people of Habitat of Humanity and purchased a variety of furniture (tables, chairs, sofas, etc.) to be donated to the North Carolina Baptist Men’s Missionary. The next day, Movin’ On Movers delivered the truckload to the Missionary who will be distributing the furniture to those in need throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Another Great SPCA Fur Ball

The evening of October 12, was yet another great success for the Raleigh-Wake SPCA. This year’s Fur Ball event, held at the Angus Barn, had record-breaking attendance, donations and contributions. Movin’ On Movers helped lead the way in the success with their 19th consecutive year as a Corporate Sponsor. Danny and Hilda Wilson, Owners of Movin’ On Movers continue their commitment to providing resources to help take care in the rescue and care of animals throughout the area.
